Sling Diaries, Vol. III: Inspiration

Something about spending the Spring with a little one fills you with such emotion. I am filled to the brim with happiness and curiosity. I see the glint in little Odin's eyes as he forms more connections in his ever-developing mind. Tomorrow he will be one year old. This season will forever serve as an inspiration to us, filled with rebirth, color, birdsong, and fresh fragrance. I will always remember the day Odin was born because of the strength of Spring.

Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal. Watching Odin learn, see, and do things for the first time reinvigorates my excitement for life. My curiosity is reborn through my son's eyes and I couldn't be more grateful. Knowing that there are still so many things for him to learn, see, and do lights a fire in my heart that cannot be put out. I want to show him the world and teach him to love it with all of his being. There's no better place for that than with his face brushing mine.

I watch him now as he grazes his hand against the trees and grass. He yearns to dive into the water and taste the earth. He brings flowers and leaves up under his nose and sits there, breathing them in. Sitting at his level, I see the world from his eyes. Fresh, exciting, and new. Wrapped in silk, I show him the world through my eyes too.

Close enough to kiss, he can rest his head on my chest when he's overwhelmed with the newness of it all. I graze his forehead with my lips and wrap an arm around him to reassure him before we venture further. We breathe in unison and all seems right.

I see his excitement as we discover something new. He hears the sound as the wind runs it's fingers through the tall grass. His papa tears off a long piece for him to play with. He's perplexed at first but it quickly turns to glee as he plays with the single piece of grass the entire walk home. He finds so much joy in the simplest things and it reminds me to do the same.

My first Sling Diary entry- I have been chosen for the Instagram portion of this run so please follow me there, @michellemakesthings! I will be posting other images from each photo-venture here on the blog (maybe some outtakes too!) as well as the original images. I'm super excited to be a part of the new Instagram portion and I can't wait to see how it develops over the next six months. Love! x
