365 hiatus

I'm a little bummed that I've been away from the blog for the past week or so. Being a single mom is so difficult! I have grown some major respect for those parenting all alone. Zak's still away at his internship and it's tearing me apart. Odin's definitely feeling the effects of his papa's distance and demands that I stay within sight at all times. It's proved difficult when it comes to any sort of mom time (blogging, making art, peeing, etc.) I'm still so sad about Z not being here and it's been three weeks! Odin is slowly adjusting but I'm still an emotional wreck when Z doesn't call or text. It's awful how addicted to him I am!

Because of this stress, I'm stopping the 365 project. I've decided to start again when Odin turns the big "one," so that I can properly document his second year of life outside the womb. Zak and I want to print our books encompassing each year of Odin's life and it makes more sense to start when he begins his second year!

Nemo!

 40/365

We were excited to head out the day after Blizzard Nemo made its visit. The wind was so strong that the snow had piled itself in various gigantic piles in our yard. Our front porch was covered in a few inches and the first spot I set Odin down in in our yard- he sank down to his shoulders! I finally found a decent spot where he could sit and play with the snow. The wind was so strong we couldn't stay out for very long, Odin kept getting snow blasted in his poor little baby face!

Snow Storm Nemo Slumber Party

Odin loves when our friends come to visit. He is constantly being held by someone and there's always a person to pay him attention. Having heard there would be a blizzard, we planned a little get together. We made bread, drank drinks, played games, and feasted. Everyone stayed the night and it was one of the most lovely nights I've had in quite some time! Sasha and Max aren't in any of these photos but Max took some amazing shots while the power was out and I'll definitely share them then!!

Post-bath Nursling

37/365

We've had a rough couple of days since your papa left for his internship. I know you're afraid I might leave too. At first this was really very frustrating, but after realizing this was the issue- I want nothing more than to embrace you. I want to wrap myself around you fully in order to make you feel content. I wish I could make you feel the way you did in my womb. Do you remember those months? You're already so big and every day is a day further from those moments. I want you to remember the security you felt. I want to embrace you for as long as you'll let me so the days where you felt so secure do not grow too far away. I miss your papa and feel as though I'm handling this nowhere near as well as you, but I'm glad I have you. I can see him in you and it makes me complete. I can feel his bones in you and I want to squeeze you tighter. We'll both rejoice when Z returns from New Mexico, but until then it's just me and you and I am enjoying it.

A New Toy

36/365

Odin climbed inside his wagon today to be amidst his friends.

Too Big

35/365

It's been hard on both of us having Zak gone. I'm so glad he's able to go and do something he loves, and one day it will benefit our little family because he'll be able to build us our very own earthship. Right now it's hard, for both Odin and I. Although I do feel it's mostly me and Odin's just reflecting. He's been extremely clingy since Z left and demands to be held the entire day (thank goodness for babywearing). The hardest part is our big empty family bed. We co-sleep/bed-share and having it just be Odin, the kitty, and myself is a little strange. I'm loving cuddling my little man but I do miss my big spoon already.

Eagerly awaiting his breakfast, made by Uncle Carlie!

Date Night

32/365

Zak leaves in two days for his internship so Aunt Marin watches Odin for a couple hours so we can go get sushi! I love every minute with baby boy, but I do also enjoy our time out. I get to actually eat my entire meal and indulge in a glass of wine (even if I am texting and asking for photos the entire time we're out).

Papa Snuggles

31/365

Baby loves his papa. This particular papa is about to go on a month long adventure interning in New Mexico building Earthships, so he's been extra snuggly with little Odin. I don't know how we're going to handle not having him here for an entire month!

Snowfall

Odin seems weary of the little white flakes falling from the sky. He's seen snow on the ground but never snowfall. The minute we saw the first snowflake from our bedroom window, we rushed outside to let Odin experience it first hand.

windy bluff walk

 31/365

Today's a little warmer than it has been, so we decided to venture out on the bluff walk. The wind proved to be a little much, although our little prince was quite content bundled up in his wagon.

trouble maker

 29/365

Now that adorable little O is mobile, he's continuously getting into everything he shouldn't. 98% of the main room is his and he'll find the one or two objects that he isn't supposed to play with. Electrical outlet covers are nothing against this kid. I'm in trouble!

a very bad morning

28/365

Someone had quite the awful morning until Auntie Grace came along to read to him. He was a ball of sunshine for the hour or so that she was visiting.

tasty toys

27/365

Odin spends his days toy taste testing.

Keeping warm by sharing body heat! Snug little babe needed this nap today.

solo stander

25/365

Little man carefully and delicately pulls himself up on everything lately. He yearns to step. He stands himself up, contemplates that first foot movement, quickly falters and reaches out for a nearby mum or dad.

snow bebe

24/365

Odin's snow suit is much too small. Or rather, Odin is much too big. This was all he could do until we changed him into something a little roomier.

homeward bound

A hungry and exhausted family makes the ferry trip to finally make it home.
