Fall Moments

Fall's slowly starting to end and winter is beginning. Yesterday, it was absolutely frigid and we stayed inside all day long. As the warmer Fall days begin to dwindle, we'll have to really take advantage and head outside every opportunity we have. Inside time won't be too difficult, because I've been stocking up my Pinterest with crafty ideas and am eager to drink hot tea and cider every night and bundle up with Zak and Odin for any short venture we may have. There's nothing more rewarding than taking a winter walk and coming back home and shedding those layers, basking in the comfort of our gigantic bed. What are your favorite winter activities?

Kozy Carrier Mei Tai

We were recently able to try out our very first mei tai. This one comes from Kozy carriers! It's actually very comfortable with my giant toddler and I will be writing a little review about it soon. For now, here are some photos from a recent walk.

Check out Carry Me Away for a great selection of these lovely carriers!

a day for firsts

First hot chocolate from the Bean and first big pile of Fall leaves. Evening trips into town in the Fall have always been my favorite. This hustle of Connecticut Preppies has come to a complete halt and the cobblestones are littered with crunchy leaves. The Bean has my favorite hot chocolate on island (they make their own whipped cream!) and while Z and I shared a coffee, we treated O to his very first "warm" chocolate. Half of it was fed to the ground but he seemed to enjoy the other half (more so after Z went inside to get him a straw).

The Lily Ponds are one of my favorite places in the world. I met Zak there for the very first time as he shared some malt liquor with me from inside a guitar case. I love coming to this spot and thinking about that day. It's funny to think that our beautiful boy is playing in the same spot that we met. Climbing trees, throwing sticks, rolling around in leaves, and all those other boy firsts. Years ago, I never would have imagined life like this.

last flowers

The air is getting colder every day. I was surprised to find some dandelions floating around our yard, so we picked them and made them into a crown. I really can't wait for spring already! I'm excited to take Odin into fields of daisies to play, he may even be walking by then which will make everything so much more exciting (and challenging)!

sundays

Sundays are most definitely my favorite. Z doesn't work on Sundays and we have the whole day to spend together. Z and I tend to get a lot of projects done and we spend a large majority of the day adventuring and snuggling. Sunday usually begins with a trip to the dump, which may sound horrendous, but on Nantucket it's one of the most exciting things to do (It is a small island, but really- the dump IS fun). The Nantucket dump has a little building called the "Take It or Leave It." It is exactly as it's name states. You bring usable things and leave them and take things you'd like. There's a variety of things- furniture, bedding, clothes, shoes, tons of books, toys, knick-knacks, records, movies, and anything else you could imagine. We've had awesome dump days where we've found beautiful fabrics, a variety of wooden toys, some new mugs, etc. Yesterday was one of those awesome score days! We found a beautiful hand stitched quilt and I found myself some (amazing) floral boots. The day before, our house-mate found Odin an adorable pair of overalls. It really is an amazing place (thrift store- but, for free?!).

Afterwards we went for a long walk in Sanford Farms. Odin promptly fell asleep as we entered after nursing in the car on the way there. He's such a doll and I'm totally in love.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, everyone! Odin enjoyed his first halloween, I think. He couldn't recognize anyone we knew with all of their face paint though! Poor sleepy pirate ended the night out by snuggling up to his papa the whole way back to the car.

fall time beach bebe

We had the most peaceful time at the beach just now. Odin sat snuggled up in his Papa's coat staring out into the ocean watching the waves (and the seals). Nantucket is really the most beautiful place. I'll have to do some posts soon focusing on the beauty of our little island.
